Why this conversation
Unyielding means refusing to give way, not moving an inch, and it is a notch more formal than "stubborn". It is not always an insult: you can be unyielding on principle, and a regulator often should be. The second sense is physical, a material with no give, which is where the metaphor comes from. It is not "unwilling"; an unyielding party may be perfectly willing to talk, they just will not move.

왜 이 대화인가
**Unyielding**은 양보하지 않는, 한 치도 물러서지 않는다는 뜻이고 "stubborn"보다 한 단계 격식 있다. 항상 비난은 아니다. 원칙에 대해 완강할 수 있고, 규제 기관은 오히려 그래야 할 때가 많다. 두 번째 뜻은 물리적인 것으로, 탄력이 없는 물질을 말하며 비유는 거기서 왔다. "unwilling"과 다르다. 완강한 상대는 대화할 의사는 충분히 있을 수 있고, 다만 움직이지 않을 뿐이다.
