The evening before Jay flies out for a final-round interview, his friend Mina calls. She has been to a fortune teller in Jongno on his behalf, and Jay, amused, answers with his own version of the same preparation.
Why this conversation
Have someone do something is the causative for asking or arranging: you get another person to do a task, by request or payment, not by force ("I had a doctor look at my knee"). The verb after the person is a bare infinitive, never "to do". In fortune-telling a reading is the session itself, so "do a reading for you" means read your fortune, about you. The pattern is everyday work English too: "I had a colleague review the PR", "I'll have the agent send it over".

왜 이 대화인가
**Have someone do something**은 부탁하거나 의뢰하는 사역 표현이다. 강제가 아니라 요청이나 대가로 다른 사람에게 일을 하게 한다("I had a doctor look at my knee"). 사람 뒤의 동사는 원형이고 "to do"가 아니다. 점술 문맥의 **a reading**은 점을 봐주는 그 세션 자체라서 "do a reading for you"는 너에 관해 점을 보다라는 뜻이다. 이 패턴은 업무 영어에서도 매일 쓴다.
