Why this conversation
Literally a heartthrob is the throb of a heart, but in everyday English it means the good-looking actor or singer that fans adore — usually a man, usually in entertainment. It is light and slightly old-fashioned press language, fine about a celebrity and risky about a real coworker, where it sounds like a comment on their body. The Korean 심장의 빠른 고동 sense survives only in writing.
