Why this conversation
Two different verbs share the spelling. Leave somebody off something means to omit them from a list, with an object and usually "off + the list": "they left me off the invite." Leave off on its own means to stop, and today it survives mainly in "where did we leave off?" and "pick up where we left off"; the bare order "leave off!" is old-fashioned British. Note it is not "leave out", which omits anything from anywhere.

왜 이 대화인가
철자가 같은 서로 다른 동사가 둘이다. **leave somebody off something**은 명단에서 누군가를 빼다는 뜻으로, 목적어를 두고 보통 "off + the list" 형태로 쓴다.
