Why this conversation
A sine qua non is the one thing without which the rest cannot exist — Latin for "without which not", and still written in italics by careful writers. It is stronger than "important" and stronger than "a priority": if it is missing, the whole thing fails. Register is formal and slightly literary, which makes it excellent in an interview or a written proposal and too heavy for a standup. The pattern is "X is the sine qua non of Y", and it takes "of", not "for".

왜 이 대화인가
**sine qua non**은 그것이 없으면 나머지가 성립하지 않는 단 하나의 조건이다. "그것 없이는 안 되는"이라는 뜻의 라틴어이고, 신중한 필자들은 지금도 이탤릭으로 쓴다. important보다도, a priority보다도 강하다. 그것이 빠지면 전체가 무너진다는 뜻이기 때문이다. 격식 있고 약간 문어적인 말이라 면접이나 서면 제안서에는 훌륭하지만 데일리 스탠드업에는 너무 무겁다. 문형은 "X is the sine qua non of Y"이고 for가 아니라 of를 쓴다.

필수 조건은 하나만 골라 말한다. "One thing." 뒤에 구체적인 대상을 놓으면 요구가 까다롭게 들리지 않고 우선순위가 분명해진다.
"없으면 어떻게 되는가"로 필수성을 증명한다. "Without it we can promise weekly releases, but we can't keep the promise" — 조건이 아니라 결과로 설명하는 방식이다.
