Why this conversation
Down the line usually means later, at some future point: "two years down the line". It also means along the whole length of something, so "all down the line" is completely, at every stage, and British "straight down the line" is strictly by the rules. It is about time or stages, not direction — for a place, say "down the road".

왜 이 대화인가
**down the line**은 보통 나중에, 미래의 어느 시점에라는 뜻이다. "two years down the line." 어떤 것의 전 구간을 따라간다는 뜻도 있어서 "all down the line"은 모든 단계에서 완전히라는 뜻이고, 영국식 "straight down the line"은 원칙대로라는 뜻이다. 방향이 아니라 시간과 단계에 쓰는 표현이니, 장소라면 "down the road"라고 한다.
