Why this conversation
Condescend to somebody is the everyday sense: treat them as less intelligent, talk down to them; the adjective "condescending" (a condescending tone) is what you will hear most. The dictionary sense condescend to + noun or -ing (condescend to cheating, condescend to accept bribes) is older and formal: lower yourself to something beneath your dignity or principles. Both share the picture of stepping down from above. It is not "consent to" and not "descend to".
