My mistake — I misread it.

In a Slack thread Jay wrote that the nightly build failed because of Mina's change. Mina replies with the log showing the failure was in a different job. Jay wants to say 제가 착각했습니다 in plain English, without a paragraph of apology and without hedging as if he might still be right.

Why this conversation

My mistake — I misread it. is the natural size for 제가 착각했습니다: two short clauses, first the ownership, then the cause. Native speakers keep it this small; "I'm so sorry, I should have checked more carefully" is over-apologising for a misread, and "I might have misread it, sorry if…" hedges what is already settled. Alternatives at the same level are I had that wrong, I was thinking of the other one, and that's on me. What makes them work is what follows: the corrected fact or the next action, not more apology. Save "I apologise" for real harm to someone else.

Dialogue

Mina: The nightly failure wasn't my change. Look at the log: it's the e2e job, and my commit only touched the lint stage.

Jay: My mistake — I misread it. I saw your name at the top of the run and stopped reading.

Mina: No harm done. Do you know what did break it?

Jay: Not yet. I had the wrong job in my head, so I'll start over from the e2e logs and post what I find here.

Mina: Thanks. And thanks for just saying so instead of arguing the log.

My mistake — I misread it.

**My mistake — I misread it.**은 "제가 착각했습니다"에 딱 맞는 크기다. "I'm so sorry, I should have checked more carefully"는 잘못 읽은 것치고 과한 사과이고, "I might have misread it, sorry if…" 같은 급의 대안은 **I had that wrong**, **I was thinking of the other one**, **that's on me**다.

Mina:

"My mistake — I misread it." 뒤에 "I saw your name … and stopped reading"처럼 구체적 원인을 붙이면 사과를 늘릴 필요가 없다.
"I'll start over from the e2e logs and post what I find here."
