Three weeks after a final-round interview abroad, Jay has heard nothing but "we'll be in touch". Over a late dinner, his friend Yusuf asks how the search is going, and Jay describes where he stands.
Why this conversation
In limbo is an undecided, suspended state where you can neither move on nor settle; keep someone in limbo is to leave them there by withholding an answer.
