Why this conversation
Par for the course means exactly what you would expect from this person or place, and it is nearly always about something mildly annoying. It comes from golf, where par is the normal score for a hole. Note the card prints "par the course"; the standard idiom keeps "for" — "par for the course" — and dropping it sounds wrong to a native ear. It is resigned, not angry: saying it signals that you are not surprised and not going to make a scene.
